Despite the global pledge to eliminate child labour by 2025 under SDG Target 8.7, there are still 138 million children trapped in child labour—over half of them in sub-Saharan Africa. With the 2025 deadline approaching, it is clear that urgent, collective action is needed.

This side event will bring together international stakeholders, practitioners, and advocates to:

- Reassess global progress and challenges

- Explore practical and collaborative solutions

- Strengthen the global commitment to a child labour-free world

About the Coordinator:

ACE (Action against Child Exploitation) is a Japanese NGO dedicated to protecting the rights and dignity of children. Since its founding in 1997, ACE has worked to eliminate child labour through advocacy, education, and direct action.

ACE collaborates with governments, businesses, and communities—particularly in Ghana’s cocoa-growing regions—to address the root causes of child labour. The organization co-developed Ghana’s Child Labour Free Zone Guidelines and has implemented pilot projects through JICA. ACE also serves as a board member of the Global March Against Child Labour.
